Neodymium (Nd) magnets are the strongest permanent magnets known to man, almost magical in their properties. One must be very careful - their attraction to ferrous materials and each other is very strong. They can collide with each other at very high velocities, sometimes shattering, sending sparks and chips (shrapnel) around. If they come together on your fingers - it can be quite painful, or if the magnet is large enough, it can even cause severe injury, so be cautious when handling them.
